Local needs talk
by hoser inone of the elders was missing his service bag and suspected that one of the publishers stole it.
he was determined to root out who did it so he decided to give a local needs part on the ten commandments focusing on you must not steal.. he enlisted the help of a trusted ministerial servant and got him to stand at the back of the kingdom hall during the part.
he told the ms that he would read off the ten commandments and when he got to the one "you must not steal" he would pause longer than usual and see if anyone acted nervous or suspicious.

Five Jehovah Witnesses Arrested for Failing to Donate Blood to Their Anaemic Child - Malawi
by AFRIKANMAN inby arnold namanja.
police in mangochi have arrested five members of a family for failing to donate blood to their 7-year old anaemic child due to religious beliefs, malawi news agency has established.. the five have been identified as 34 year old simon kamwendo (father of the child), his grandfather bernard kamwendo, 69, brothers solomon and divason mwabwino, both 21, and byson chidandala an uncle to the child.. failure to provide a child with necessities contravenes section 242 of the penal code, hence the arrest of the five who belong to the jehovah's witness faith.. a source, macdonald danger told mana that medical doctors at koche health centre diagnosed the boy of malaria with anaemia and recommended blood transfusion, but the five rejected the prescription.. "the child was suffering from malaria and was taken to koche health centre where it was discovered that he was anaemic and needed blood," he said.. "when asked to donate, all the five guardians who are family members refused to do so saying that their faith does not allow them to receive or to donate blood," danger added.. .
according to danger, the resistance prompted officials at the hospital to seek the intervention of makolola police unit, which led to the arrests.. mangochi police station public relations officer, inspector rodrick maida confirmed the arrests of the five jehova's witness members.. "we arrested the five following a report from koche clinic which asked for our intervention in the matter whereby these people were refusing to donate blood to a patient who needed to be saved from dying," he said.. he said the five will soon appear before the court to answer to a charge of failing to provide necessities to a child under their care.. all the five hail from mapata village in the area of traditional authority mponda in mangochi.. .

Yes I remember my dad had them turned into one bible. He had little cutouts of the bible books on the edge of the pages like some large dictionaries have the alphabet cutouts.
Wasanelder Once, you have been around too long too. It is fun to remember all this old stuff from back in the days when being in the truth was hard work but more fun and it actually seemed to be more like the truth than it is today.

I remember the green songbook too. DoC, you and I have been around the borg way too long.
i also remember my dad having the NWT bible released in stages. The first went from Genesis to Deuteronomy, I think then the second went from Joshua to 2 Chronicles or something like that. Anyway there were about five or six small volumes, all hard covered of the whole bible. You needed a trolley to go to the KH in those days.

Introducing myself
by maksutov inmy name is russ, i'm 40 years old, from the uk, and i left the jws nearly 5 years ago.
i've been a member of the yuku board throughout that time, so there are probably some on here who know me already.
there seems to be more activity over here at the moment, so i thought i'd pop in and say hi.i was raised as a jw, started questioning it when i was 16, but there was no internet back then (well, no www anyway) so i got sucked right in and got baptized when i was 18. auxiliary pioneered on and off for a couple of years, then became a ministerial servant.

"Baptism is one of the first steps to leaving the organisation," said steve2. So true, it happened to me too. I never felt the same afterwards.
Welcome maksutov and hope to hear more from you.

Funny story about dumb JW rules
by cookiemaster insome years ago (the year when i got baptized), i was at a district convention (or whatever they call them these days) with my best friend.
he had a part in one of those acting parts at the convention (i have no idea the term jw's use for them in english).
anyway, we were both seeing through the bullshit of the borg but weren't aware at the time of this forum or other "apostate" groups, nor of the full extent of the perversity of this religion.

So I can't have a medium Coke at McDonalds! If I have a large one, I will become large so will be thought of as gluttonous. I will have to have a small one, which is good. Thank you WTBTS for looking after my waistline and health. -

Greyhound Racing Using live Animals As Blood Bait ,Australia
by smiddy infour corners , abc , tv program shows the greyhound racing industry`s top trainers , owners ,ex stewards in at least 3 states , nsw ,qld , and vic , using live piglets , native possums ,and rabbits as bait for their racing dogs at training tracks.. they tie or bind the animals on a lure , let the dogs chase them a few times with muzzles on then take the muzzles off and let the dogs catch and maul them to death giving the dogs a taste for blood and give them an advantage in the racing industry.. if your an animal lover and against cruelty to animals you could let your voice be heard no matter where you live on planet earth .. let greyhound racing australia know the world is aware of this abhorrent practice .. thank you .

And when the dogs are too old or sick or injured they are offered for adoption. There are so many of them that homes cannot be found for all so many are put down. Only the best ones are adopted. The injured are usually injured due to the racing. Make money and then discard them. Disgusting. So not only the rabbits, pigs, etc., but the dogs themselves are treated badly. -

my name is abigail
by wakeupbuttercup inlong time lurker here.
i don't want hate in our hearts - jw are wrong oh so wrong - and i want to blame this religion for making me cold and distant to the world.
but i believe everything is meant to be, we all have purpose in this world.

Hi Abigail
I have just followed you on Instagram.
I live in NSW but come from Melbourne and have non-witness relatives there. We may meet up one day.
I agree so much about not wanting hate in our hearts. All my life as a JW I followed to the letter the rules on disfellowshipping as did my parents who are now deceased. It does make you cold and distant to not only the world, but to others in the org. One of the things that woke me up was the lack of love shown to me, my mum when she was old and hubby's sister who has mental illness and is DF'd. The teachings did not even come into it until I discovered these forums, I was so shocked and still recovering. I always thought it was the absolute truth and had no real idea of the history of the org.
Welcome to no longer being a lurker. I'm not afraid of being found out either. I am not DF'd but am being shunned a bit at shopping centres, etc. Can't wait to hear the greatest story in the world. I will tell you my baptism story one day, you won't beat that!
On Instagram I am Hawkstorm13 as I go for Hawthorn in the AFL and the Melbourne Storm in the NRL. The 13, well it is supposed to be superstitious, isn't it?

Hi jw-verite
Welcome to the forum. I wish I could speak French half as well as you speak and write English. Actually I wish I could speak any French.
I was like you and found the awakening disturbing too, but now I am glad I have found out that my suspicions were not just paranoia. Like your wife, my husband was not very active and now we are both out and both researching like we have never researched before. The org many years ago published a book called Make Sure Of All Things, so that is what we are doing now, but not using the book, just its title.
Keep us posted about the birth of your new baby.
